Children and Youth Ministry Director
Overview
Oversees the ministry that seeks to help students from kindergarten to college age
to make steps toward deeper maturity in Christ so that as they graduate the
program they are prepared for adult discipleship in whatever context they may
encounter. As part of fulfilling the Great Commission in Matthew 28, the director
will, with the help of the people of this church, build a sustainable Children and
Youth Ministry that makes disciples and disciple-makers for the transformation of
the world.

(For this document, children is defined as students in kindergarten through 6th
grade. Youth is students 7th grade up to 12th grade. College age are students in
college or had graduated from high school in last 4 years.)
Reports to the Senior Pastor for spiritual and ministry guidance. The Staff Parish
Relations Committee provides an annual evaluation on performance, as all staff are
evaluated. Must adhere to United Methodist policy and doctrine. Required to
submit a budget to the finance committee annually.
Position is a part-time position with an expectation of 20 hours per week
commitment. Director is responsible for balancing time expended to average 20
hours, but adjusting other weeks to balance. Benefits offered include continuing
education funds, travel expenses, and budget for the ministry.

Qualifications:
~Must embrace United Methodist doctrine and theology
~A bachelor’s degree in a related field
~Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, conflict management
skills, and fluent in current technology used by youth
~Must possess a proven ability to work effectively with children and youth, diverse
individuals, and teams of volunteers
