WEDDINGS
First UMC is always honored to be chosen as the church for that special day in the life of a couple not only for its members but for those who are not members of FUMC. If the requested date is open on the church calendar and the pastor’s calendar, a deposit of $50.00 is required to hold the date. The pastor of First UMC is to perform the ceremony or have a role in the ceremony. At least three months prior to the wedding, the pastor will need to meet with the couple for counseling.
You can see a copy of the Wedding Booklet that will answer a lot of your questions. Donations/fees are outlined in the Wedding Contract. Couples will be asked to complete and sign a Wedding Contract and a Property Usage Contract, provide FUMC with proof of liability insurance, and complete the Ceremony Information Sheet. Couples will be provided with a copy of the church’s wedding/building usage policy.
For the convenience of the wedding party and to assist the minister, the church provides a Wedding Consultant. The consultant is available to take care of little emergencies, make sure guests are seated in a timely fashion, see that parents and grandparents of the couple are seated and that the procession takes place at the appropriate time.
