Connect • Grow • Serve • Share

At First United Methodist Church of Seymour, our discipleship model, Connect. Grow. Serve. Share., was developed by our leadership team as we asked an important question: What would our faith-family look like if we were truly making disciples? The answer shaped a vision for our church built on four pillars: connecting in community, growing in faith, serving our neighbors, and sharing the love of Christ. Grounded in prayer, this model reflects how we believe discipleship takes shape in the life of our church and throughout Seymour and Jackson County.

Whether you are new to the church, looking for a place to serve, or hoping to find deeper connection, there is a place for you here.

Connect.

Connecting with others

Connection is where belonging begins. As Christians, we are communal by nature, and through connecting with others we build meaningful relationships and find our place in the life of the church. These ministries and gatherings help people form friendships, support one another in faith, and share the love of Christ together. Sometimes that means introducing someone to Christ for the first time, and other times it means encouraging one another as we continue growing on our spiritual journey.

Life Groups

Life Groups are where connection happens. In these small, welcoming gatherings, you can build meaningful friendships, share life honestly, and grow in your faith alongside others who care about you.

No matter where you are in your journey, there is a place for you to belong, be known, and walk through life together.

Relationship Team

The Relationship Team helps people feel seen, known, and welcomed from the moment they walk in. This team is focused on building genuine connections, following up with guests, and making sure no one slips through the cracks.

Through simple acts of kindness and intentional conversations, the Relationship Team helps turn first visits into lasting relationships and a true sense of belonging.

MLK Day of Service

The MLK Day of Service is a chance to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by serving others and making a real difference in our community. Together, we step out of our routine and into meaningful action, showing love through service.

Whether you are helping a neighbor, supporting a local organization, or joining a team project, every act of service reflects the heart of Christ and the dream of unity and compassion.

Trunk or Treat

Trunk or Treat is a fun, safe, and family-friendly event where our church and community come together to celebrate the season. Kids can collect candy, play games, and explore creatively decorated trunks in a welcoming environment.

It is a great way to connect with families, meet new people, and create lasting memories for kids and parents alike. Bring your friends, invite your neighbors, and come enjoy a night full of laughter and community.

Birthday Luncheons

Birthday Luncheons are a joyful way to celebrate together as a church family. Each month, we gather to recognize birthdays, share a meal, and enjoy time with one another.

It is a simple and meaningful way to connect, laugh, and make sure everyone feels seen and appreciated on their special day.

Game Day

Game Day is all about fun, laughter, and building friendships. Whether you love board games, card games, or just hanging out, this is a relaxed space where everyone is welcome.

It is a great way to meet new people, enjoy some friendly competition, and be part of a community that feels like home.

Website and Social Media

College Prayer Partners

Through this ministry, each college student is paired with a prayer partner who uplifts them in prayer and encourages them through cards and gifts, especially during exam season.

Invite Friends

The Invite Friends ministry is all about helping people take a simple step that can change a life. By inviting friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers, you help open the door for others to experience hope, community, and the love of Christ.

You do not need to have all the answers. A genuine invitation and a welcoming heart can make all the difference. Together, we can reach more people and grow a community where everyone belongs.
